Boston Floating Hospital (1894-1927)

Le premier et seul hôpital de Nouvelle Angleterre à offrir des soins médicaux aux enfants à bord d'un bateau a été le Boston Floating Hospital en 1894. En trente-deux saisons d'été, il passa de simple bateau d'excursion au statut de navire-hôpital très bien équipé. Quand il brûla en 1927, l'hôpital fut installé à terre et ouvert toute l'année.

Il existe encore sous ce nom bien que dans des bâtiments en dur. The first and only New England hospital to offer medical care for children "aboard ship" was the Boston Floating Hospital in 1894. It grew in 32 summers from a small excursion craft into a well-equipped hospital ship. When the boat burned in 1927, the hospital went ashore to give year-round service.

Ce vapeur, probablement un nouveau construit vers 1904, fut réquisitionné plusieurs mois en 1918 et servi comme USS Boston Floating Hospital.
In early January 1918 she was taken over by the U.S. Navy and placed in commission as USS Boston Floating Hospital (ID # 2366), but was returned to her owner in June of that year.
Après sa destruction, il en restait cependant encore assez pour qu'il soit reconverti en tanker à moteur diesel de 675 tonnes nommé Marshall B. Hall. Il fut mis à la casse en 1952.
However, her hull apparently survived and in 1933 she was converted to a 675 gross ton diesel-powered tanker, named Marshall B. Hall. The ship was disposed of in 1952.
