Le Jacob van Heemskerck est un croiseur de la défense côtière des Pays-Bas construit en 1905-1906 par le chantier NSM à Amsterdam. Ce navire de 4920 tonnes, de 98m par 15,19m, faisait ses 16,5 nœuds grâce à ses 6400cv répartis sur deux hélices.

HRMS Jacob van Heemskerck exercise regularly made trips on the North Sea, Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Norwegian and Danish waters, Baltic, in Curacao. On 24 September 1926 service and on realm yard at Willemsoord in breakdown service to do service on 2 May 1929 up to 16 October 1933. On 19 April 1939 became the ship in service as a battery chip " put; Ijmuiden". On 14 May 1940 at Ijmuiden by the crew to sink brought. Later lifted by the bezetter and transmitted to Amsterdam. Le garde cotes cuirassé Jacob Van Heemskerck avait un sister-ship le Marten Harpertzoon Tromp dont il ne différait que par l'armement secondaire 6x 150 mm et 7 x 75mm pour le Jacob Van Heemskerck au lieu de 4x 150 mm et 9 x 75 mm pour le Tromp;la coque et l'appareil moteur étant les memes.Si le Tromp à été démoli en 1932;nous avons vu que la vie du Jacob Van Hemmskerck s'était prolongée sous les noms successifs de Ijmuiden.de Undine sous pavillon allemand puis de Neptunus en 1948; mais il existait encore en 1976 toujours sous le nom de A 881 Neptunus, comme ponton-caserne, sans ses machines,il a été rayé definitivement semble t'il cette année la.
Apres vérification,le Neptunus a été comdamné le 4 octobre 1974.
